Fringed Blanket into Fall Poncho DIY

It’s finally here, the moment you’ve been waiting for since my last blog post. It’s the first of the Value Village refashions! And lucky for me there’s no snow (yet) so I can still enjoy wearing this poncho without freezing my tush off.

This was a very easy DIY. There are lots of tutorials online. I found Pearls & Scissors blog post, DIY Wool Blanket Coat, particularly helpful. I liked her suggestion for bias bound belt holes and incorporated them on my poncho.

Since the blanket edges were finished by serging, I used the same method to finish the edge of the newly cut centre and neckline. Then I figured out where the belt should sit and cut slits which I bound with microsuede. It took me about 40 minutes from start to finish. Easy-peasy!

Sometimes you just need to take a moment to ponder, point at the ground and decide on your next amazing pose. Lol. Modelling is hard work!

conclusion:

I give this diy…

1/5  ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ for difficulty of construction (5 being most difficult)

3/5 ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ for wearability (5 being super wearable)
